Tata Motors (Thailand) has added a new variant to its Xenon pickup range by launching the MaxCab, Thailand’s first extended-cab diesel pickup with an entirely flat load bed. It comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine and 140 horsepower while delivering economy and value suited for business operators.
The one-tonne Xenon MaxCab is powered by a 2,200-cc turbocharged common rail diesel engine, with intercoolers and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1,700-2,700 rpm. It maintains the Xenon pickups’ signature raised body and flat load bed, providing payload space that is a benchmark and loading convenience with doors on three sides. Its engine is very fuel efficient and delivers powerful performance to satisfy both driving and heavy transport requirements.
“As a leading manufacturer of energy-saving vehicles, we have innovated the Tata Xenon MaxCab to be the country’s first extended-cab diesel pickup with a flat load body, in accordance with Tata Motors focus on developing commercial pickups that provide value for money and excellent operating economics,” said Ajit Venkataraman, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Motors (Thailand).
“Previously, we’ve launched single-cab pickups with flat load bed for maximum loading capacity, but the MaxCab will be an alternative for business operators, including the SMEs, who need extensive space for goods and equipment as well as more room for passengers.”
The company’s CEO pointed out that the extended-cab pickups accounted for the largest sales in the Thai pickup market. From January to August this year, the sales figure of extended-cab models was 148,528 units, a 59 per cent of the total pickup sales. The launch of Tata Xenon MaxCab would provide customers a new choice, a product that is specifically built to meet the needs of commercial users of pickup.
“Because the MaxCab will be manufactured in Thailand, buyers will also be entitled to privileges in the government’s first-car tax rebate scheme,” said Ajit.
“We’re confident that this new Tata Xenon MaxCab will be a dependable vehicle and will be well received by business users of pickup”
